Engineering Simulation Specialist

Alexis graduated from École Polytechnique de Montréal in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. In 2014, he then completed a master’s degree in mechanical engineering with a research project on structural optimization at Bombardier Aerospace.

Since then, he gained valuable industry experience starting with a 2-year research project in a small start-up demonstrating a novel composite manufacturing process applied on a full-scale aircraft engine part. He then joined Bell Helicopter Textron as a rotor system specialist supporting customers, production, development, and research projects such as the Electrically Distributed Anti Torque (EDAT) demonstrator.  

 He finally joined Optimec’s team in 2024 where he continues to learn and leverage his experience to tackle new challenges.

Pascal Turcotte

Junior Engineering simulation specialist

After being charmed by numerical methods and the application of the finite element method during his studies in mechanical engineering at the university of Quebec in Trois-Rivieres, Pascal immediately knew that this was the career in which he wanted to evolve.

He first gained his professional experience as a project manager in product development roles before continuing in the rubber industry as an FEA analyst. His great discipline, his desire to carry out his projects with professionalism, and his passion for numerical calculation characterize him well.

Lohith Porwal

Engineering simulation specialist

Lohith Porwal, born and raised in India, ventured to Canada in 2021. Holding a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Jain University, India, he began his professional journey in 2016 as a project assistant at the Indian Institute of Science. In 2018, he joined MSC Software resellers, accumulating five years of expertise in CFD simulation.

Throughout his career, Lohith Porwal has been instrumental in providing support to numerous government and startup companies in India.

Ilyess Jadid

Engineering simulation specialist

After Graduating in 2015 from ENSEM, Casablanca, Morocco, with a mechanical engineering degree, Ilyess started his career by working as an FEA simulation engineer at a consulting company, before working for an automotive manufacturer where he worked on multiple simulation projects involving multiple fields of study and innovation, accumulating 7 years of experience.

In 2023 Ilyess joined Optimec as a finite element analyst after he decided to move to Canada and look for the opportunity to work in different industries.

Jan Shah

Account Executive

Born and raised in Montreal, speaking four languages with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Concordia University, Jan Shah kicked off his career in sales in the industrial sector. Having experienced a wide range of industries including aerospace, automotive, manufacturing, gas technology, and the health sector, he is well-versed in the world of engineering.

With a dynamic combination of technical skills and sales skills, Jan is motivated to bring value to clients. The top of his list includes maintaining customer relationships and orchestrating business solutions to fit the needs of our customers.

Vanessa Mentor

Operations Officer

Vanessa began her career in Haiti with over 17 years of leadership experience gained in the banking industry, while holding positions ranging from entry level front-line roles to the Director level. She has extensive experience in administration, customer experience and process development.

Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Business Administration. Passionate by leadership development, she completed in May 2022, a certification in leadership coaching.

Vanessa moved to Quebec in 2020. Before joining Optimec, she has worked for Relief, Le chemin de la santé mentale.

Yoann Kamdem

Junior Engineering simulation specialist

Yoann is a recent graduate in his master’s degree oriented on stress analysis from Polytechnique Montreal, where he also obtained his degree in mechanical engineering in 2021.

During his studies, he gained experience on the mechanical resistance of complex and extremely solicited systems such as industrial turbomachinery for a company and research using FEA.

Always involved in projects, he brought his energy to Optimec on March 2022.

Noa Barak

Engineering simulation specialist

After graduating her bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ben-Gurion University, Noa worked for six years as an FEA analyst in a consulting company in Israel where she performed and led engineering simulations for multiple verticals and developed a comprehensive understanding from the variety of projects. In addition, she trained and guided clients via professional courses, seminars, and individual technical support. During those years she also completed her master’s degree in the same study field from Tel Aviv University.

In 2018, Noa moved to Canada to work as R&D Verification Engineer at a well-known simulation software development company. Based on her former experience she advised on designs and implementation of FEA features, as well as planned and performed interactive and automated tests to ensure software functionality. Starting 2022, Noa was aiming towards a new FEA consulting role, which brought her to join the Optimec Consultants’ team.

Brandon Recine

CATIA Applications specialist

Brandon’s interest in advancing technology and applied mechanics led him to pursue a DEC in Mechanical Engineering Technology at Dawson College, with a focus on 3D CAD and design. His career began in earnest in the manufacturing industry compiling technical manuals for and designing of stretch wrapping machinery. Here, he was able to develop and expand upon his competence in the 3D CAD domain. 

In 2018, an opportunity presented itself for Brandon to work in the construction industry as a BIM solution technician. His ability to learn new software and problem solving allowed him to adapt and succeed in the new environment.  

Brandon joined Optimec Consultants in 2021 as a 3D CAD specialist. 

Victor Barriault

CATIA Applications specialist

During his studies at Cégep du Vieux Montréal, Victor worked in the manufacturing field. The experience Victor acquired serves him at Optimec by helping him to bring the best solution to his customers.

Since his start at Optimec in June 2020, he is solving multiple complex problems by offering simple solutions empowered with the powerful best-in-class engineering tools.

Thomas Garnier

Engineering simulation specialist

Thomas started to work at an engineering company directly after his graduation. In 2019, he left France to settle in Quebec, where he continued to work in stress consulting. Working mainly in space field, but not limited to, his expertise led him to become an employee at Optimec Consultants.

From stress simulations to automation process, Thomas uses all his skills and experience to carry out the projects on which ones he works.

Ricardo Magalhaes

Simulation Application Engineer

Ricardo is an alumnus of Montreal’s École Polytechnique with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. His career path started early on in Finite Element Analysis in the automotive industry. This led him to pursue an opportunity in Japan as a Powertrain Design Expert Consultant.

Upon his return to Montreal, he started working for Optimec’s Consulting Firm as an Application Consultant. His expertise in FEA, CAD design, and programming allow him to provide services for Optimec’s trusted clients, including engineering process automation, product design and support.

Réjean Belliveau

Engineering simulation specialist

Réjean is a recent graduate in his master’s in applied science with a concentration in composite materials from Université de Moncton, where he also obtained his degree in mechanical engineering in 2019.

During his studies he worked with the industry, mainly on composite material research, metal 3D printing as well as heat exchangers. During his projects Réjean has extensively used FEA and CFD tools to solve complex numerical problems.

Leince Remson Elysee

During his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Polytechnique de Montréal, Leince has developed his technical skills in design and manufacturing that he experienced in various industries. His interest in mathematical modelling brings him in research and development team at Polytechnique where he was developing new numerical particles. Beside his technical experiences, he was an active member of EWB’s (Engineering Without Borders Canada) Polytechnic’s chapter where he used his management skills as president to develop many aspects of the chapter.

When he graduated, he joined Optimec Consultant as a Functional PLM Consultant, where he combines his technical with his management skills to help clients build robust processes in the development of their product.

Lamine Diallo

Director PLM & CAD Services

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from École Polytechnique de Montréal, Lamine started his career in the consulting world for a major PLM solution provider. At the beginning of his career, he worked on projects for a major Automotive OEM customer. This opportunity allowed him to travel to Japan, where he spent two years collaborating with this client’s R&D team.

Back in Montreal in 2005, following his interests in business management, Lamine reoriented his career towards PLM consulting in the aerospace, automotive and oil and gas industries. In the meantime, he pursued a master’s in business administration to further his knowledge and skills.

In 2020, after a transition in the construction industry, Lamine joined Optimec Consultant as a solution architect for PLM solutions. 

Hamza Benzakour

Engineering simulation specialist

After graduating with a master’s degree in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering from the ENSEIRB of Bordeaux, France, Hamza’s passion for the automotive sector led him to work as a vibration engineer for an international tire manufacturer in France. He then occupied a role of FEA consulting engineer as a crash test specialist for an international car manufacturer for three and half years.

Following his Canadian dream, he found himself in Montréal and his years of experience along with his solid technical knowledge granted him the title of finite element analyst in 2020 for Optimec.

Hafedh Marouane

Engineering simulation specialist

Hafedh holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal in early 2017. He began his professional career as a postdoctoral researcher in the mechanical engineering department at the same school. He also has teaching experience, acquired as a lecturer in the engineering Modules at Polytechnique Montréal.

Having a diverse background in numerical simulations and a passion for solving complex technical problems, Hafedh joined Optimec in September 2018 and has held the position of a specialist in engineering simulations. Certified “SIMULIA – UFEA Technical Support,” he helps large and diversified clients to analyze, optimize, and improve their products using the latest simulation technologies.

François Theret

Engineering simulation specialist

After graduating from a French engineering school in Bordeaux, Francois launched his career as a FEA consultant for ArianeGroup taking part in European space rockets development. Willing to get closer to actual testing and so-valuable-for-FEA material data, Francois joined a building products company-owned R&D centre in Massachusetts (he knows he didn’t have to go that far to do that… 😊) as a research engineer helping various business units in their product development through FEA and test methods development.

He then came back to a FEA consulting role as he moved to Montréal bringing help to customers all along the product development chain before joining Optimec Consultants in 2020 and pursuing in this consulting role.

Catherine Forest

Digital marketing manager

After completing her studies, Catherine started her marketing career as a social media manager while travelling abroad. Her-self taught abilities, autonomy and drive allowed her to seize an opportunity with a digital marketing agency upon her return to Montreal.

Always aiming to hone her skills, Catherine joined Optimec Consultants as a digital marketing manager where her dynamism, expertise and strategy have been put to use furthering Optimec’s prominence in North America.

Benjamin Beckelynck

Senior Engineering simulation specialist

Benjamin landed in Quebec City in 2012 after completing an engineering degree in aeronautics from IPSA in France. He went on to pursue a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Université Laval, and competed in 2015. After moving to Montreal, he joined Optimec Consultants as an FEA analyst in 2016.

Benjamin has since been involved in a wide variety of projects across industries, driving advanced multi-physics simulations. He is now responsible for developing analysis workflows, ensuring high fidelity and detailed comprehension, for structural integrity study, design optimization, and virtual testing.

Max Lucchesi

Vp Business Development

Experienced professional with 20+ years in process and business transformation, leveraging technology to enable business improvements. Primarily engaged with manufacturing customers, supporting them in connecting the dots between engineering, manufacturing, and related services.

Prior to join Optimec. as partner in December 2018, Max worked for many different industry leaders such as DXC Technology, Dassault Systèmes, and SAP, covering multiple roles and serving customers in several verticals such as Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, Industrial Equipment and Civil Engineering/Energy. In the last few years, Max has been involved in many PLM and IIoT projects. He has collaborated with major players all around the Globe, to elaborate and execute their “connected strategy”, from the use cases definition, validation (Proof of Value) and business and technical architecture design.

Today at Optimec Max leads all business development activities, managing the relationship with strategic customers and partners.

Mathieu Lussier

Founder and CEO

After graduating with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Mathieu gained five and a half years of engineering and simulation experience. Specializing in FEA consulting, Mathieu provided product analysis and optimization for customers in various industries including aerospace engineering, industrial equipment, and recreational vehicles.

Acting on the desire to pursue his own career goals, he founded Optimec Consultants in 2002 with the goal of becoming a leader in North American Engineering Simulation. Mathieu is both the CEO of Optimec and in charge of the protection of personal information, as well as the leader of Optimec’s engineering simulation consulting team.
